About The Founder
Mdm. Jagit Kour or known to many as Mdm. Sonia, was born in the coastal city of Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia in the early 50's. She had received her tertiary education in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. She went on to further pursue her passion of caring of others by choosing to major in nursing. She left for Bath, Somerset, U.K in 1971 and graduated as a nurse in 1973. After spending 10 years in the U.K, hospitals caring for the sickly and needy, Sonia finally returned to Malaysia in 1981. Upon returning, she joined Mt. Alvernia Hospital in Singapore in 1983, followed by Hospital Tawakal, Malaysia in 1984. While posted as a nurse in Hospital Tawakal, her husband got admitted to Pantai Medical Centre at which he passed away from a myocardial infarct in late October 1984. With a young boy aged 9 years old and a 6 month old infant, she had to think and act fast as she was now the sole provider of the family. Mdm. Sonia then came up with the idea of helping the aged, This was one job where she figured she could continue her passion of caring for the needy and also look after her young ones. She then started St.Mary's Nursing Home at 2A, Taman Halimahton, Old Klang road in 1985 and have never looked back ever since. Wanting to further educate and improve herself, Mdm, Sonia also completed her Diploma Level 1 in Business Administration in 1994.
